I discovered this really fun website today. On it, I found the top 100 songs from the year I graduated from high school.
I have pretty mixed feelings about the music when I was in high school. For the most part, I remember hating the music from the year I graduated. But now here it is, the official list of the most popular stuff from that year!
I had flashbacks just reading the list!
So I think I need to do a music review:
1. All I Wanna Do - Sheryl Crow I really don't like Sheryl Crow. At all. And I especially hate this song. Blech!
2. I'll Make Love To You -
3. Turn The Beat Around - Gloria Estefan I would swear this song is older than that! But yes, I liked this song.
4. I Like To Move It -
5. I Swear - John
6.
7. Circle Of Life - Elton John Loved the movie, not so big on Disney movie songs being played on the radio, though.
8. On Bended Knee - Boys II Men See #2
9. The Sign - Ace of Base This is one of the flashback songs. I have LOTS of memories tied to this song. I think I wore out the CD.
10. Always - Bon Jovi Had to look this one up. Meh. It was alright.
11.
12. Can You Feel The Love Tonight - Elton John See #7
13. Action - Terror Fabulous Even after looking this one up, I don't think I've ever heard it.
14.
15. At Your Best (You Are Love) - Aaliyah Had to look this one up too. I had forgotten about this song. Awesome song!
16. Beautiful In My Eyes -
17.
18. Power Of Love -
19. Mr Jones - Counting Crows A little over-played, but still a fun song. And yes, I still remember all the words.
20.
21. Another Night -
22. Endless Love - Mariah Carey &
23. All Apolgies - Nirvana I hated Nirvana in high school. With a passion. Now, I appreciate them (it helps that Surfer Pirate loves their music). I wouldn't say I love this one, but it's not bad.
24.
25. All For Love - Bryan Adams, Sting, Rod Stewart Great song... but Rod Stewart is creepy... not just in this video... just all the time.
26.
27.
28. All I Want Is You - U2 Blech blech and double blech
29. Return To Innocence - Enigma I love this song. No, I adore this song. To best be appreciated, this song must be played at full volume and with your eyes closed. It does remind me of a former-friend who I hope to never have to see again, but I don't hold that against Enigma.
30. Back and Forth - Aaliyah Great song. Aaliyah was amazing. Wish we hadn't lost her so young. I had to listen to the whole song just now.
31. Moving On Up -
32. I'll Take You There - General Public I seem to have liked this one. Not too sure why now. :)
33. Amazing - Aerosmith Another video of theirs with Alicia Silverstone in it. It was an ok song.
34. What's Up -
35. Laid - James Um yeah. Glad I don't know this one.
36. What's My Name -
37. Fantasic Voyage - Coolio Loved it then, still love it. Still listen to it often. It reminds me of going cruising with my sister (sorry Mom!)
38. Regulate - Warren G & Nate Dogg Don't remember it from back then, but I kind of like it now, although the background music reminds me of the music a local furniture store had in their commercials.
39. Wild Night - John Melloncamp &
40.
41. Love Is All Around - Wet Wet Wet Great song. Hot lead singer (I love a man with a ponytail!). Does it get any better?
42. Having A Party - Rod Stewart &
43. Basket
44.
45.
46. The Most Beautiful Girl In The World - Prince Blech
47. Loser - Beck Fun song, funny video. Flashbacks of riding on the bus with Mike and Chris who loved this song and would sing it.
48.
49.
50. Self Esteem - The Offspring Great song. I had this on tape - yes, you heard me right. TAPE.
51. Spin
52. Possession - Sarah McKachlan Don't remember it, and I think I just fell asleep listening to it.
53. Baby I
54.
55. Stay (I Missed You) -
56. Without You - Mariah Carey See #44
57. I'll Stand By You - Pretenders No, not so much
58.
59. Long View - Green Day I had a hard time trying to decide if I liked Green Day or not back then. But this was one of the ones I dug.
60 Low - Cracker This one is pretty popular where we like to do karaoke. I don't think I'd ever heard it until we started going there a couple years ago.
61.
62. Lucky One - Amy Grant I had to be in the right mood. One day I liked it, the next it was too sappy
63. Welcome To
64. Shine - Collective Soul I still dig this song. Yeah!
65. God - Tori Amos Don't remember this one. I'm glad.
66.
67.
68.
69. I'll Remember - Madonna Even a few seconds of this song makes me want to put a bullet in my brain.
70. So MUch In Love -
71. About A Girl - Nirvana See #23
72. Today - Smashing Pumpkins Smashing Pumpkins was a pretty fun group
73. Love Sneakin' Up On You - Bonnie Ratt I love Bonnie Raitt. And this song was no exception
74.
75. Always - Erasure I loved this song back then. Not really sure why now.
76. Come Out and Play - The Offspring Love love love love this song! I used to play this at top volume when I was mad at my roommates in college. I still love to listen to this song.
77.
78.
79. Practice What You Preach - Barry White I don't remember this one, but Barry is always awesome
80.
81. Keep Ya Head Up - 2Pac Didn't care for him back then. (And hey! He was still alive back then so him releasing new albums wasn't such a weird thing!) Now I like him, but this song still doesn't do anything for me.
82. Because The Night - 10,000 Maniacs Kill me now. Please don't make me listen to this song again.
83.
84. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm -
85. Said I Loved You... But I Lied - Michael Bolton No. I refuse to go there.
86. Dunkie Butt - 12 Guage Yeah, there's 15 seconds of my life I'll never get back. Really glad I didn't know about that song back then.
87.
88. Secret - Madonna And she should have kept it a secret, too! Ick.
89.
90. The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get - Morrissey And we ignored him long enough to make this song go away! Yay!!
91. Fade Into You -
92.
93. Breathe Again - Toni Braxton Another theme song from my first broken heart. Lots of Toni Braxton songs made me cry in those days.
94. Cannonball - The Breeders Meh.
95. Round Here - Counting Crows Yep. I would still rather stick ice picks under my fingernails than listen to this song.
96.
97. Spin The Bottle -
98. Bizarre Love Triangle - Frente! Eeeeeeeeeew
99. Why Haven't I Heard From You - Reba McEntire Ah, back in the days when I actually LIKED Reba! Not a bad song.
100. Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon - Urge Overkill Yeah, don't need THAT one in my head now. Gag, gag, gag.
That was fun, but it took MUCH longer than I thought it would. I hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane.
Now I have to go listen to some Aaliah to get some of those last songs out of my head!
*I'm not really sure why some of these are blue. They're probably linked to something. Click on them if you dare! :)

This was a fun trip down memory lane! Wow! And I agree with your comments on most of them. Although I love U2, even though that particular song is not great, and I did like Mariah Carey back then, not so much anymore. How fun.
Laid by James!!?? I LOVE that song!
(ooh my word verification is very close to fornication--fortican)
